The alarm clock on my desk has recently become my "supervisor" for social mining... Every time I want to do a task, leave a few harmless comments, it rings and I ask myself: am I earning points, or am I draining today’s attention? Honestly, this badge/identity system is pretty good at manipulating people; it feels good when you earn it, but that’s about it.
Lately, there’s been a lot of noise about NFT royalties: creators want income, markets want liquidity, everyone feels wronged. The same applies to points, right? Platforms want activity, users want a sense of identity, and ultimately, the most easily consumed resource is time.
My current approach is very crude: set the alarm for 20 minutes, and if I can learn something or genuinely use the protocol during that time, I continue; otherwise, I stop... I just don’t want to turn myself into a clock-in robot for a shiny little icon. That’s it for now.
