CryptoWorld News: Postquant Labs launched a quantum-secure Bitcoin wallet called Quip on Tuesday, aiming to address the risks posed by quantum computing to Bitcoin. The wallet achieves quantum security through a smart contract layer running in parallel with the Bitcoin network, without requiring any changes to the network itself. Quip uses a post-quantum signature scheme called WOTS+ to enhance Bitcoin's existing security. The product operates on the Arch network, allowing developers to build smart contracts directly on Bitcoin. Postquant Labs CEO Colton Dillon stated that although the Bitcoin community has been discussing quantum issues for years, protocol upgrades could take 5 to 10 years, whereas Quip's approach can provide similar protection immediately.
