Running my own nodes and staking for a long time has given me a certain obsession: cheapness and security are basically a tug-of-war. L2 indeed saves gas and offers a smooth experience, but frankly, it still relies on the mainnet as a safety net. Details like withdrawal periods, sequencers, upgrade permissions—if you don’t look closely, it’s easy to mistake “saving money” for “no risk.”
For ordinary users, I think there are only two compromises: for daily small transactions, use L2; if you need to hold positions long-term or settle large amounts, it’s better to occasionally go back to the mainnet to cash out—don’t be lazy.
Recently, the airdrop season is heating up again. Task platforms are competing like clocking in for work, with anti-witchcraft measures. I see many people authorizing everywhere and repeatedly interacting just for points… the gas saved might not even be enough to avoid a costly mistake.
Anyway, I care more about cleaning up authorizations and keeping paths simple now. Going slow is fine; at least I feel at ease.
