Just checked the latest retail data and the euro area is showing some softness in consumer spending. February numbers came in with a 0.2% drop month-over-month, which is pretty typical for that time of year. The broader EU saw a slightly larger 0.3% decline, so nothing dramatic but worth watching.

What's interesting though - when you look at the year-over-year comparison, the euro area actually managed a 1.7% gain compared to February last year. So despite the monthly pullback, we're still up on an annual basis. That's the kind of mixed signal you see when growth is slowing but not collapsing.

The one category that took a hit was food and beverages, down 0.5% from January to February. Makes sense given seasonal patterns. Everything else in the euro area basically held steady. Honestly, this looks like normal winter slowdown rather than anything alarming. Worth monitoring for the next few months to see if we bounce back or if the trend continues.
