Understanding the Fear & Greed Index in crypto

What is the Fear & Greed Index?
It is an indicator that measures market sentiment:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Is the market fearful or greedy
The scale ranges from 0 โ€“ 100
โ€ข 0 โ†’ Extreme Fear ๐Ÿ˜จ
โ€ข 100 โ†’ Extreme Greed ๐Ÿค‘
Why is this important?
Because the #crypto market is driven by human emotions.
When people are afraid โ†’ they sell
When people are greedy โ†’ they buy
How to read the Fear & Greed:
๐ŸŸฅ Extreme Greed (75โ€“100)
โ€ข The market is overly optimistic
โ€ข Many people FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)
โ€ข The risk of correction increases
๐Ÿ‘‰ Usually the final phase of an uptrend
๐ŸŸจ Neutral (40โ€“60)
โ€ข The market is stable
โ€ข No excessive emotions
๐Ÿ‘‰ Transition phase
๐ŸŸฉ Extreme Fear (0โ€“25)
โ€ข Many people panic
โ€ข Many sell at a loss
๐Ÿ‘‰ Historically: often an area of opportunity
The biggest mistake beginners make:
โŒ Buying during Greed (because theyโ€™re afraid of missing out )
โŒ Selling during Fear (because they panic )
How experienced people see this:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Fear = start looking for opportunities
๐Ÿ‘‰ Greed = start being more cautious
The Fear & Greed index is not for โ€œcertain predictionsโ€
but for reading:
- the emotions of the majority of the market
And in cryptoโ€ฆ
- the majority often mis-timings
If you understand this, youโ€™re not just following market emotionsโ€ฆ
but starting to think counter to the crowd.
