I originally thought the crackdown on VPNs was just talk, but I didn’t expect them to actually go into full force. I don’t know what those “brothers” who come to Twitter to get paid by the paycheck will do—there’s no way they’ll move to Hong Kong or Macau just to make a Twitter account work. If the ban remains at the same intensity or increases, Chinese-language KOLs in the Chinese-speaking regions will face unemployment. Even if the KOLs themselves can access Twitter, if their audiences can’t, then they’re just a one-man show—and the KOLs themselves lose their value as well.
