saw this news about HSBC's retail business in Indonesia - apparently OCBC Bank from Singapore is leading the bid and offering way more than the other competitors. they're talking about valuing it at over 6 trillion Indonesian rupiah, which is pretty significant for a retail banking deal like this. sources say OCBC might end up as the preferred bidder but nothing's finalized yet. interesting that DBS, UOB, CIMB, and even Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui are also in the mix competing for it. feels like a big move in the regional banking landscape with all these players fighting for HSBC's retail assets in the region. the whole thing is still being worked out apparently.
