I tried it once to see whether “whether royalties are turned on or off” really affects the floor price and sales: for the same series, I picked the two most active platforms, listed two items with a similar price gap—one with royalties retained and one with royalties turned off—and watched for two days. The results were pretty realistic. The one with royalties turned off sold faster, and the floor price was also easier for people to push down piece by piece. The one with royalties turned on had slower sales, but the comment section was actually more willing to chat about follow-up activities, and the narrative felt a bit warmer. Put simply, liquidity is cold and indifferent. People say they support creators, but in their hands they still prioritize cost… I’m not going to obsess over taking sides anymore. If I can verify it, I’ll verify it: look at the order book depth, look at the turnover frequency. No matter how good the narrative is, if no one is willing to take the next buy, it can only end up as wallpaper.
