If your private key protects your crypto account, why do you still need a crypto wallet?

Hackers can obtain the private key if it is not stored in a wallet: the wallet provides account security.

Crypto wallets allow you to sign transactions without the private key, making them safer and easier to use.

Without a crypto wallet, you cannot access your digital assets, even if you have the private key.

Crypto wallets enable you to manage multiple private keys easily, providing backups for all your accounts using human-readable seed phrases.
