CryptoWorld News reports that Core Scientific has announced plans to transform its Bitcoin mining farm in Pecos, Texas into a large artificial intelligence data center, with an expected total power capacity of 1.5 gigawatts, of which about 1 gigawatt will be leased. The data center will support high-density co-location services to meet the growing AI computing demands. Core Scientific stated that it will repurpose the 300 megawatts of electricity currently used for Bitcoin mining to support AI workload data center operations. The foundation work for the first data hall has been completed, vertical construction has now begun, and capacity is expected to be available by early 2027. Additionally, Core Scientific plans to secure an extra 300 megawatts of power through contracts with utility providers and has acquired over 200 acres of land to support the expansion of the data center campus.
