Gemini App quietly launches file generation: create TXT, PDF, CSV directly in the chat, package into ZIP for download
CryptoWorld News: Google Gemini App adds file generation capabilities, allowing users to directly create various formats such as TXT, Markdown, PDF, CSV within conversations, and also package multiple files into a ZIP for one-time download. Users discovered this feature through self-testing and shared it on social media. According to user screenshots, Gemini executes code in a Python sandbox in the background to generate files, with the execution path at /home/bard/. The sandbox has an independent working directory, and files can be retained and referenced across multiple conversation rounds. Users can first ask Gemini to generate five files, then in the next round request to package them into a ZIP, and Gemini can recognize and handle files created earlier. Additionally, Gemini now supports directly generating Google Docs and Google Sheets, while Slides is not yet available. This update enables Gemini to deliver the results of code execution as standalone files, filling the gap in file handling capabilities that Claude already has but Gemini has lacked.
