Alibaba releases its third cancer AI model DAMO COCA
On April 28, Alibaba DAMO Academy, together with Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital and other institutions, developed an intestinal cancer screening AI model called DAMO COCA. From plain-scan CT images of 27,000 people, it precisely identified 5 cases of missed intestinal cancer diagnoses; its sensitivity and specificity reached 86.6% and 99.8%, respectively. For the first time internationally, it proposed an intestinal cancer opportunistic screening method that requires no bowel preparation and is “imperceptible” for patients. This is also the third cancer screening AI model released by DAMO Academy after pancreatic cancer and gastric cancer, indicating that DAMO Academy’s original multi-cancer screening technical route of “plain-scan CT + AI” has been officially put into operation.
