Recently, I've been seeing L2s argue over TPS, fees, and subsidies, feeling like a marketplace where everyone’s just shouting louder... But as an ordinary person, I only care about two things: not paying so much it hurts, and not getting stuck to the point of wanting to smash my phone.
My current compromise is pretty simple: small, frequent transactions are sent to L2 for smoothness; for large transfers or changing important permissions, I still go back to the mainnet (L1, the main chain), which costs more but feels more secure. I also have a small habit: I don’t chase “the cheapest,” I chase “stable and easy to use,” because today’s cheap can lead to congestion tomorrow, and the experience can directly crash.
Anyway, I don’t believe in fairy tales of always low fees; on the chain, cheap often means someone else is paying the bill somewhere else… That’s how I see it for now.
