According to Hubei Daily, the Qingshan police in Wuhan recently cracked multiple major cases involving virtual currency and network security. In early 2024, cybersecurity unit officer Guo Tingyu led the investigation and solved Hubei Province’s first virtual currency theft case. The police found that a gang led by suspect Huang developed a fake virtual currency wallet app, listed it on app stores to attract victims, and as a result, the assets of a large number of users were stolen. The app has been downloaded more than 10,000 times, and the funds involved totaled as much as over 100 million yuan. At present, all five suspects have been taken into custody. In addition, in February 2025, the police successfully dealt with a ransomware attack targeting a large enterprise, identified the overseas IP that launched the attack, and recovered losses of several million yuan.
