Americans' economic confidence is currently lower than in April 2020:

Gallup's Economic Confidence Index fell by 11 points in April, down to -38, the lowest reading since November 2023.
This level is now below the pandemic's lowest point of -33 recorded in April 2020.
To put this into context, the all-time high was +56 in January 2000, while the all-time low was -72 in October 2008.
Currently, 73% of Americans believe the economy is getting worse, the highest since May 2023, while only 23% believe it is improving.
Furthermore, only 33% of Americans think this is a good time to find a quality job, the lowest reading since January 2021, down from a peak of 74% in October 2021.
Americans are very worried about the economy.
