Amazon CEO confirms: OpenAI models will be directly launched on Bedrock within weeks
CoinWorld News, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy confirmed on social media that the OpenAI model will be directly available to AWS Bedrock customers in the coming weeks, along with the launch of a jointly developed stateful runtime environment that allows AI agents to maintain memory and context in multi-step tasks. This is the first implementation following the revision of the agreement between OpenAI and Microsoft. Previously, Microsoft held exclusive rights to the OpenAI API products, and AWS could not directly host OpenAI’s closed-source models. On the day of the agreement revision, Jassy publicly stated that the deployment of the stateful runtime and models, announced in February, has been moved from “the coming months” to “the coming weeks.” When OpenAI signed a strategic partnership with Amazon in February, Amazon pledged a maximum investment of $50 billion, with the first $15 billion already in place, and also signed an 8-year, $100 billion AWS computing power expansion agreement, with OpenAI committing to use approximately 2GW of Trainium computing power.
