Evan Tangeman Gets 70-Month Sentence in $263M Crypto Social-Engineering Case

Evan Tangeman was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for laundering proceeds from a crypto social-engineering scheme that prosecutors said stole more than $263 million. Tangeman pleaded guilty in December 2025 to a RICO conspiracy and admitted laundering at least $3.5 million. Court documents said the enterprise operated from October 2023 through at least May 2025, and law enforcement seized luxury vehicles from his residence.
