Now every time the mainnet gets congested or gas prices spike, I think of my past self: jumping in at the first sign of opportunity, only to end up paying transaction fees without making any profit, and my mindset getting worn down in the process.
Now I keep it simple—small, frequent transactions on Layer 2 for everyday use, and the experience is indeed smoother; but when it comes to large amounts or actions involving permissions or contract upgrades that I don’t understand, I obediently go back to the mainnet. It’s more expensive, yes, but at least I sleep peacefully.
Recently, there’s been a bunch of testnet incentives and expected points, and everyone in the group is guessing whether the mainnet will issue tokens.
I also get itchy fingers, but I set a simple rule for myself: before jumping in, disconnect from the internet for ten minutes and think clearly about whether my reason for entering is “I need to use this chain” or “I’m afraid of missing an airdrop.”
Honestly, the former is paying tuition, while the latter is probably just paying an emotional tax… Anyway, I’d rather go slow.
