BlockBeats News, April 28 — On the afternoon of April 27 local time, suspect in the Washington White House Correspondents’ Association dinner shooting, Cole Allen from California, appeared in a federal court in Washington, charged with attempting to assassinate the U.S. president, transporting firearms across state lines, and using guns in violent crimes, totaling three charges.

If convicted, the charge of attempting to assassinate the president alone could carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. No plea was entered during the hearing that day. Allen was only informed of the charges against him.

The judge ordered Allen to be detained during the case proceedings. His detention hearing is scheduled for the morning of April 30 local time, and a preliminary hearing is set for the afternoon of May 11.
