Golden Finance reports that on April 28, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said that Iran “is genuinely” hoping to reach an agreement with the United States, but any agreement must prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. “I believe they truly want to get out of their current predicament,” Rubio said. He noted that Iran’s economic situation is deteriorating increasingly, including inflation, difficulty paying wages, and ongoing sanctions, and said: “All the problems Iran had before this conflict began still exist, and most of those problems have gotten worse.” “We must ensure that any agreement… can thoroughly prevent them from accelerating nuclear weapons development at any time,” he added.
