Chinese people have an instinct

No matter how hard it gets, they must hold on to that face.
Can't pay back borrowed money, not because there's no money,
But because they say they're going through a tough time recently.
Marriage has long been rotten through, not because they can't go on,
But because they say they'll endure a little longer, for the sake of the children.
Lost a job, not because of layoffs,
But because they say they quit voluntarily, wanting a different direction.
Posting poetry and distant dreams on social media,
Reality is overdue bills and sleepless nights.
The thing called face has taught Chinese people a special skill
To package all their true struggles into another appearance and live it out for others to see.
Over time, even they can't tell,
Which one is the real self.
