I saw on CoinDesk that Yuga Labs and Ryder Ripps have settled the RR BAYC NFT dispute after a two-year legal battle. Honestly, the drama of this case is so interesting – it shows us how serious trademark and intellectual property issues are in the NFT space. The RR/BAYC series used Bored Ape imagery, and that’s where the problems stem from. Initially, there was a $9M judgment in favor of Yuga, but eventually they settled with restrictions on Ripps. The settlement basically bans them from using Yuga trademarks moving forward. It’s like this case has been ongoing for a long time, but it’s a good reminder of how high the stakes are in NFT projects today. Curious about what happened to Reynolds and other parties involved here.
