CryptoWorld News reports that, due to the U.S. imposing a blockade on Iranian ports, Iran cannot ship oil to customers, and empty oil tankers cannot dock to load cargo, resulting in its oil inventories continuing to pile up. To prevent some oil fields from shutting down, Iran has started storing oil on floating oil tankers. However, according to current and former Iranian officials, this country—one that relies heavily on oil exports for most of its revenue—is now using previously unutilized methods to save storage space. These officials said that Iranian authorities are using containers and “simple storage facilities,” specifically using poorly maintained abandoned storage tanks in the southern oil hubs of Avas and the Asaluyeh region to store oil.
