Rumors have been circulating in the crypto community for several days about a possible resignation of the head of the Fed. Allegedly, Powell could soon announce his departure, and people are even talking about an emergency meeting. But the trouble is that no official confirmation has appeared from the Fed system itself or from the government.

Personally, I think this is typical internet speculation. Powell is planning to give his speech this week, and as usual, the market has started speculating about who might replace him. I checked Polymarket—there, the probability of Powell leaving is estimated at just 12%. This suggests that even those who are willing to put money on predictions don’t really believe these rumors.

Trump has already said he doesn’t intend to fire Powell while he remains in office. Kevin Hassett also called all the noise about potential successors nothing more than speculation. So it seems the basis for these rumors is quite shaky.

On the crypto market, I didn’t notice any particular moves in response to this news. Prices are staying calm—no panic. The market clearly isn’t taking this information seriously. We’ll wait for Powell’s speech—then it will definitely become clear what is really going on with Fed policy.
