National Bureau of Statistics: Profits in high-tech manufacturing industry grew rapidly in the first quarter

The Chief Statistician of the Industrial Department at the National Bureau of Statistics, Yu Weining, interpreted the profit data of industrial enterprises for January to March 2026, stating that profits in high-tech manufacturing are growing rapidly.
In the first quarter, profits of high-tech manufacturing above designated size increased by 47.4% year-on-year, contributing 7.9 percentage points to the overall profit growth of industrial enterprises above designated size.
From an industry perspective, artificial intelligence and semiconductor-related industries are developing rapidly, driving profits in fiber optic manufacturing, optoelectronic device manufacturing, and display device manufacturing by 336.8%, 43.0%, and 36.3%, respectively;
Demand for intelligent products is increasing, with profits in intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturing and other intelligent consumer device manufacturing industries growing by 53.8% and 67.3%, respectively;
The green manufacturing sector is seeing improved benefits, with profits in environmental monitoring instruments and lithium-ion battery manufacturing industries increasing by 100.0% and 25.0%, respectively.
