Lately I've been debating whether I should move everything to Layer 2. Honestly, saving on gas fees is just too tempting, especially for someone like me who keeps an eye on NFT floor prices and occasionally wants to stake or borrow some liquidity. Clicking around on the mainnet makes my wallet hurt... But the experience isn't always smooth: cross-chain transfers take time, limits need to be calculated, and I have to watch out for fake bridges and fake links. The tension is always there.
Right now, I think: for small, frequent daily transactions, Layer 2 is fine. But if I plan to hold a position long-term or buy art pieces I genuinely want to keep, I prefer sticking to the mainnet—it's more reliable, even if it's more expensive, at least I can sleep peacefully. I recently heard that some places are tightening taxes and regulations, and the uncertainty around deposits and withdrawals is increasing. That makes me less eager to explore too many routes... Anyway, if it can be simple, then keep it simple. Avoiding one more pitfall is worth more than saving a little on gas.
