March Non-Farm Payrolls Surpass Expectations, Reach Over One-Year High

U.S. seasonally adjusted non-farm payrolls increased by 178k in March, far exceeding the market expectation of 60k, reaching the highest level since December 2024, significantly improving from the previous month’s “negative growth” in employment. The U.S. unemployment rate in March was 4.3%, compared to an estimate of 4.4% and a previous value of 4.4%. U.S. non-farm employment for February was revised to a decrease of 133k; January was revised to an increase of 160k.
