🔥Powell’s Final Public Appearance: The Federal Reserve’s “Plain-Language Communication” Era May Be Coming to an End

Powell will hold his final official press conference as Federal Reserve Chair on Wednesday local time (early Thursday Beijing time). Since 2019, Powell has held press conferences after every meeting, aiming to “summarize the state of the economy in plain, easy-to-understand language.” However, Kevin Waugh, the successor nominated by Trump, has hinted that he may stop holding regular press conferences, saying, “When holding a press conference, there always has to be some important news to release.” Deutsche Bank economist Matt Luzzetti believes Waugh likely will not give up this platform, as it allows him to “shape the narrative.” Interest rates are expected to remain unchanged at this week’s meeting.
