Trump Discusses Details of Security Incident at Dinner
On April 26, during a press conference held on April 25 local time, U.S. President Trump stated that the unexpected incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was “completely shocking.” He heard a noise and thought it was a tray falling to the ground. “I was observing the situation at the time,” but his wife reacted more quickly, seemingly realizing what was happening. Trump expressed his desire to continue holding the dinner and promised to reschedule the event as soon as possible. He noted that he had not received any briefings about threats prior to the dinner. Trump also mentioned previous assassination attempts against him and called on the American public to “resolve their differences.” He pointed out that members from both parties condemned the related incident that night.
