Military Commentator: Are U.S. Air Force Early Warning Aircraft Still Sufficient?
Military commentator Zhang Xuefeng stated that the U.S. Air Force had a maximum of 33 E-3 AWACS aircraft. Before this conflict erupted, only 16 remained, with an average of just 10 able to maintain combat readiness. In this Iran attack, two E-3s were damaged, and one-third of the AWACS forces deployed in the Middle East were lost, potentially affecting air defense warning and offensive organization. Australia dispatched E-7A AWACS to assist, and the U.S. Navy sent E-2D AWACS as a temporary measure. The E-3 AWACS faces performance lag issues and cannot meet the operational needs of high-end adversaries. (CCTV News)
