CryptoWorld News reports that Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew announced that the province plans to ban minors from using social media and AI chatbots. Kinew said in a speech on Saturday, “Social media—even now, AI chatbots—are being used to ‘steal’ our children’s attention. Their design is intended to maximize user engagement and profit for those tech tycoons whose values do not match ours.” This measure will put Manitoba ahead of the Canadian federal government, which is currently considering implementing similar restrictions nationwide. At present, the Manitoba government has not yet disclosed the specific age-limit range or details on how the policy will be enforced.
