G7 Environment Ministers' Meeting Proposes Financing for Ecological Conservation

The G7 Environment Ministers’ Meeting concluded in Paris, France on the 24th. The two-day meeting adopted multiple documents aimed at accelerating action in fields related to ecological protection financing, ocean protection, tackling water pollution, land degradation, and more. On the 24th, France’s Ministry for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion introduced on its official website that, as the rotating chair, France launched two initiatives. One initiative is intended to help coordinate and strengthen financing for nature protection, conservation, and ecological restoration, especially by mobilizing greater voluntary participation from the private sector and charitable organizations. The other initiative is intended to prevent and reduce exposure risk and vulnerability to natural disasters by promoting technological collaboration within the G7 and beyond. The meeting adopted a series of outcome documents, with key focus on establishing a marine protected area management alliance to strengthen cooperation in effective management of marine protected areas, pledging to further deepen cooperation in combating illegal fishing, and advancing the protection, conservation, and restoration of land and ecosystems.
