Hong Kong Police Crack Gold-Granule Fraud Case Linked to Virtual Currency, HK$7M Involved

Hong Kong police said they broke up a cross-border phone fraud case tied to gold granules and virtual currency, involving about HK$7 million across seven cases. Police said the syndicate posed as mainland officials and told victims to buy gold granules in Hong Kong as supposed surety bonds, then converted the gold into cash and virtual currency.
