Trump recounts details of dinner security incident: Does not believe the shooting was related to Iran conflict

ChainCatcher News, citing a report from Jinshi, said that U.S. President Donald Trump stated in response to a reporter’s question that the sudden incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner that day was “absolutely shocking.” He said he heard a sound but thought it was a tray falling to the floor.

“I was watching the situation at the time,” but his wife moved out of the way faster, seemingly quickly realizing what was happening. Trump said he hoped to continue the dinner and promised to reschedule the dinner date as soon as possible.

Trump said he did not receive any briefings about threats before the dinner. Trump also mentioned the previous assassination attempt against him and called on the American people to “resolve their differences.” He also noted that people from both parties condemned the incident that evening. Trump also expressed his thanks to the media, saying the media “acted very responsibly in its coverage.”

When asked whether the shooting incident was related to conflict with Iran, Trump said: “I don’t think so.”
