U.S. President Trump announced on social media on the 25th that he canceled the trip for the U.S. delegation to travel to Islamabad, Pakistan, to “meet with Iran.” Trump said the trip was a “waste of too much time spent traveling,” and claimed that Iran’s leadership is facing “internal strife and chaos.” He also said that the U.S. “holds all the cards,” and that if Iran wants to talk, they can “call directly.” Trump had previously disclosed to the media that his special envoy Witkoff and his son-in-law Kushner’s trip to Pakistan to hold U.S.-Iran negotiations had been canceled. He said he had told the two that there was “no need to fly 18 hours just to sit and talk.”
