Regarding travel safety during the Qingming holiday, the National Emergency Response and Disaster Relief Office issues a reminder
On April 3, the Office of the National Flood Control, Drought Relief and Disaster Prevention Committee issued a notice, urging and guiding all regions to fully step up efforts to prevent and mitigate disaster risks before and after the Qingming holiday, and to effectively safeguard people’s lives and property and maintain overall social stability. According to assessments, in April, as temperatures rise, severe convective weather and heavy rainfall will become more frequent. In North China, East China, Central China, South China, and parts of the Northwest region, the risk of flooding and hail-and-wind disasters is relatively high. Some small and medium rivers in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the Pearl River basin, and the Zhejiang-Fujian area may experience flood levels exceeding warning levels. In some areas of North China, Northeast China, South China, and Southwest China, there may be periods with high forest fire risk levels; in parts of Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Qinghai, the grassland fire risk levels are relatively high. Local geological disaster risks are relatively high in parts of North China, East China, Central China, Southwest China, and the Northwest. There is a drought disaster risk in Southwest China. In Inner Mongolia and Tibet, there is a risk of phase-specific low-temperature rain, snow, and ice-storm disasters. During the Qingming holiday, northern regions will see strong winds, sand and dust, and rain-and-snow weather, while Jiangnan, South China, and Guizhou will experience relatively strong rainfall and severe convective weather.
