Two departments deploy to strengthen the construction of the lithium-ion battery recycling system for electric bicycles

On the 3rd, it was learned that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives recently jointly issued the “Notice on Further Strengthening the Construction of the Recycling and Utilization System for Lithium-ion Batteries in Electric Bicycles,” aiming to fully leverage the role of supply and marketing cooperatives and their state-owned enterprises in the recycling network of renewable resources, further extend grassroots recycling outreach, and promote standardized and scientific recycling of lithium batteries. The notice makes arrangements in terms of utilizing existing resources, strengthening leading enterprises, and supporting digital monitoring, proposing that various regions should leverage the role of supply and marketing cooperative enterprises and other business entities in a three-tier recycling system supported by recycling points, transfer stations, and sorting centers; support leading enterprises like China Recycling Resources Group in building sorting centers and comprehensive utilization projects; encourage various recycling enterprises of supply and marketing cooperatives to connect with electric bicycle sales and after-sales service outlets to carry out “trade-in + recycling” services, among others. Regarding safeguard measures, the notice requires local departments of industry and information technology and supply and marketing cooperatives to establish docking mechanisms, strengthen daily communication and regular exchanges, promptly consult and resolve specific issues during work processes, improve information sharing mechanisms, and regularly report on the progress of the lithium battery recycling and utilization system construction and exchange experiences.
