Crypto界 News reported that at a hearing before the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee regarding the FY2027 National Defense Authorization Request, Samuel Paparo, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and a U.S. Navy admiral, said that Bitcoin can be viewed as a computer science tool—a combination of cryptography, blockchain, and proof-of-work mechanisms. He noted that as a computer science tool, Bitcoin has enormous potential; the costs generated by relying on proof-of-work protocols far exceed the expenses of maintaining network security and operations solely through algorithms. In addition to the economic perspective, it also has important application value in the field of cybersecurity and is positively significant for supporting the United States’ national strength.
