Lately, I've been feeling like there's a "lag" when checking on-chain data, but it's not my internet connection... Most likely, it's the indexer/Subgraph catching up, or RPCs being rate-limited. You might think that a recent transfer would immediately show up on the dashboard, but in reality, someone has to scan the block and organize it into a searchable format, and if any step is slow, it causes delays. What's more frustrating is that during rate limiting, queries can drop packets, so what you see is just a period of "no activity," which can easily lead to a misleading mindset.
This also explains why some on-chain tools and tagging systems have been criticized for lagging or even misleading users: the data isn't fake, but the rhythm might have changed. Anyway, I now leave some buffer when working with ranges, so I don't change my plans just because of a one- or two-minute data gap... It's easy to say, but seeing a candlestick flicker still makes me anxious. We'll talk more next time.
