California Man Sentenced to 70 Months in $263M Bitcoin Laundering Case

Evan Tangeman received a 70-month federal prison sentence for laundering at least $3.5 million tied to a $263 million Bitcoin theft, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Prosecutors said the multi-state group stole more than 4,100 BTC from a single victim. Tangeman pleaded guilty to RICO conspiracy on Dec. 8, 2025, marking the ninth plea in the case.
