Lately, social mining, points, and badges have become popular again. I see many people in the group constantly completing tasks all day long, like clocking in for work. Frankly, identity is used to reduce trust costs, not to drain your time; if there’s real value, traces can always be left on the chain: is the interaction natural, is the funding self-consistent, can the behavior be explained logically.

Seeing the “compound yield” of staking again being criticized as a pyramid scheme, it’s actually quite similar to the point system logic: bringing future imagination forward to realize early, which is exciting in the short term, but the risks are hidden behind layers of packaging. My approach is pretty simple: I only do tasks I would do anyway, leaving a chain of evidence; as for the rest… forget it, I’m not into badge collecting. DYOR (do your own research) has become a cliché, but at least it helps me avoid being led by emotions.
