Litecoin Reorg Erases Invalid MWEB Peg-Outs After Privacy-Layer Exploit

Litecoin rewrote about three hours of chain history after attackers exploited an MWEB zero-day and triggered a reorg from block 3,095,930 to 3,095,943. The Litecoin Foundation said the flaw let older mining nodes accept an invalid MWEB transaction, enabling unauthorized peg-outs and routing funds to third-party decentralized exchanges. Aurora Labs CEO Alex Shevchenko said attackers used the window to double-spend against multiple cross-chain swap protocols, and NEAR Intents exposure was about $600,000. The Foundation said the offending transactions were erased and the vulnerability was fully patched, but some trading venues reported losses.
