KFC has chickened out on welfare promises

KFC has withdrawn its commitment to the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC), a pledge to improve chicken welfare, despite previously signing up in 2019. The company’s announcement to source 35% of its chicken from British farmers by late 2026 is criticized for lowering welfare standards. This move, along with other major UK hospitality brands, highlights a disconnect between corporate practices and public demand for higher animal welfare and transparent labelling.
