CPU “Severely in Short Supply” Supply Chain Says Major International Companies Are Planning Price Hikes Again in Q3
The CPU market is triggering a new round of price hikes. ODM manufacturers point out that since March of this year, the prices of consumer electronics and server CPUs have increased by 5% to 10% and 10% to 20%, respectively. Supply chain sources reveal that major international companies are planning to implement another round of price increases in Q3. Previously, Intel raised PC CPU prices in March and further adjusted server CPU prices on April 1st. Market expectations suggest there is still about an 8% to 10% room for further price hikes in the second half of the year. Regarding AMD, there are also market reports indicating that its server CPU product line will have price increases once in the second quarter and once in the third quarter, with a total increase of 16% to 17%. The supply chain bluntly states, “Currently, CPUs are still in a severe supply shortage,” and the price increases have not yet reached an end. (Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily)
