Turkey may consider participating in mine-clearing operations in the Strait of Hormuz after reaching an agreement with the U.S. and Iran.
Golden Finance reports that on April 25th, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that after Iran and the United States may reach a peace agreement, Turkey may consider participating in mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz. It is expected that after the US and Iran reach an agreement, a technical team will carry out mine clearance work in the strait. Turkey generally regards such actions as a humanitarian responsibility and holds a positive attitude. If in the future this technical multinational alliance becomes a party to a new round of conflict, Turkey will reassess its position. It believes that issues related to Iran’s nuclear program can be resolved in the next round of talks to be held in Pakistan. (Jin10)
