Ministry of Commerce: The U.S. tax rebate measures are a positive step in correcting errors on the right path
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce He Yong stated on April 23rd that China has always opposed any form of unilateral tariff increase measures. Unilateral measures such as reciprocal tariffs and fentanyl tariffs by the U.S. violate international economic and trade rules as well as U.S. domestic law, harm the global trade order, and are not in the interests of all parties. The U.S. tariff refund measures are a beneficial step in correcting the wrong path.
At the routine press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce that day, a reporter asked: Recently, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that they have basically completed the first phase of development of a new customs declaration system feature for large-scale refunds to importers, and related tariff refund work was launched on the 20th. What is the Ministry of Commerce’s comment on this? How will China safeguard the interests of its export enterprises?
“He Yong replied, ‘It should be noted that these tariffs are directly collected by U.S. Customs from U.S. importers and ultimately borne by U.S. consumers. We advise Chinese export enterprises to actively communicate with relevant stakeholders based on their own circumstances to protect their legitimate rights and interests.’”
