Recently, I’ve been staring at on-chain data until my eyes hurt, and it made me remember something quite counterintuitive: you think you’re seeing "real-time on the chain," but in fact, there are several layers in between. Nodes are lagging, RPC requests are queued or dropped, indexers sync first and then organize, so by the time you open the dashboard, that transaction might have already been confirmed several blocks ago.

I’ve now set a simple rule for myself: use indexes to see the big picture (charts are easy on the eyes but a bit behind), and for execution, use multiple RPC comparisons (occasionally even directly check the raw transaction). AI agents and automated trading have been hyped up lately, but honestly, only those who can handle data delay and reorganization risks are truly focused on safety; otherwise, it’s like letting a robot drive with "yesterday’s traffic conditions." Anyway, I’d rather confirm a bit slower than be led astray by fake real-time data.
