Russian Foreign Ministry: The EU's new round of sanctions and loans to Ukraine will worsen its own predicament

The European Union approved the 20th round of sanctions against Russia on the 23rd, adding 36 new measures including restrictions on oil exploration, extraction, refining, and transportation. On the same day, they also approved a new loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova responded at the weekly briefing on the 24th: Russia will respond with strict countermeasures, and the loans to Ukraine will further increase the EU’s own debt burden.
