GPT-5.5 API officially open, available for use the day after release
CryptoWorld News, OpenAI officially launched the GPT-5.5 API on April 24, 2026, with users able to start calling it the day after release. The GPT-5.5 model ID is gpt-5.5, and the snapshot version is gpt-5.5-2026-04-23. The API pricing is: $5 per million tokens for input, $0.50 per million tokens for cached input, and $30 per million tokens for output. The context window is 1.05 million tokens, with a maximum output of 128k tokens, and knowledge cutoff is December 2025. Inputs exceeding 272k tokens will be billed at double the input price and 1.5 times the output price. Additionally, GPT-5.5 Pro is also simultaneously open for API access, with input pricing at $30 and output pricing at $180. Batch API and Flex pricing are now available, with inference strength options of none, low, medium (default), high, and xhigh.
