The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed for the first time on April 2nd to include microplastics and pharmaceutical ingredients in the list of drinking water contaminants, a move that could prompt water authorities to establish new regulatory standards for these substances. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated at the press conference that the proposal aims to address concerns from the public about the presence of microplastics and pharmaceutical ingredients in drinking water.
